Man Arrested after Punching Officer



A 22-year-old University of Michigan student (arrest) Saturday evening after he suddenly (punch) an Ann Arbor police officer in the face at the Brown Jug, city police said.

Officers (call) to the restaurant in the 1200 block of South University Avenue at 9:45 p.m. after the student (break) a table and (fight) with other customers. An officer said he (speak) to a waitress when the suspect (yell), "You don't know who I am."

The officer said he (tell) the man to remain calm , and the man suddenly (punch) him in the face. The officer and student (fight) in the busy restaurant until the officer was able to break free and stun the student with a Taser, reports said. The student (take) to the U-M Medical Center, where blood (take) to determine if he (use) any drugs or alcohol.

The officer (have) minor injuries and refused medical treatment. The student could be charged with assault on a police officer.
